Once upon a time, in the corner of a third grade classroom at P.S. 13 in Queens, New York, Jude wrote her first short story and discovered her life’s passion. Today, she is working on her third and latest novel while her previous book, What Hurts., sits on various desks of various editors at various publishing houses, batting its eyelashes and waiting to be discovered. At the same time, Jude’s recent foray into travel writing indulges her restless spirit and insatiable wanderlust.
With the advent of 2011 came a surprising change of scenery for native New Yorker Jude as she left The City That Never Sleeps for the Sun Coast. She now lives on the beach in Sarasota, Florida—which is already inspiring her in new ways.
Jude holds a B.A. in English from Marymount Manhattan College and an M.F.A. from Emerson College, where she had the good fortune to be mentored by Andre Dubus III (House of Sand and Fog, Garden of the Last Days). She has attended the Sewanee Writers Conference (2002, 2006, 2010) and the Sirenland Writers Conference (2010) in Positano, Italy. In addition to teaching Creative Writing at Marymount Manhattan College, over the years Jude has enjoyed working one-on-one with fledgling writers.
